Williamsburg, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery is pleased to announce Denissa Cornick as the Iowa S3DA State Coordinator, while her husband Zach will serve as the Iowa S3DA State Conservation Coordinator. They will work together to build a strong competition and conservation foundation for the Iowa S3DA program. The Cornick’s currently reside in Burlington, Iowa where they enjoy spending time with family and being outdoors participating in activities such as hiking, bowhunting, fishing, and archery. They saw a need for archery in the community and it inspired them to form a non-profit archery club called Flint River Archery Club, which has grown from eight youth archers to forty-two and counting in less than a year. Their club is established with the S3DA program and its partnering organizations, ASA, NFAA & USA Archery.
Denissa Cornick was introduced to archery and bowhunting as an adult and it quickly became her favorite pastime. She spent many years traveling around to local 3D tournaments and shooting with her family. It didn’t take her and her husband long to realize there was a lack of youth archery programs in their area. Many times, they would attend local archery shoots and their children were the only youth archers participating. They also noticed that people seemed very interested in archery, but had no way of learning, so they decided to register for a USA Archery Instructor course in Springfield, Missouri to become certified USA Archery Instructors. Since then, they have both become NASP and S3DA certified instructors and taught many youth archery classes. They have taught summer youth archery clinics, adult archery clinics, Girl Scout Intros to archery, Salvation Army Archery programs, and JOAD programs.
Denissa Cornick stated, “It has been awesome to see people of all ages enjoying archery! We support all archery organizations and disciplines. Archery is amazing and we love to see youth archers participating no matter what organization they enjoy the most or what type of bow they prefer to use. There are many amazing archery clubs and shops across Iowa that would be great places for S3DA teams to begin and flourish. The first step is educating and certifying new regional coordinators and coaches. We have plenty of great people that are ready and willing to share their knowledge of the sport of archery, we just need to get them S3DA certified. The next step, which goes hand in hand with the first step, is to build a very strong team presence across the state of Iowa comprised of passionate youth archers.”
Denissa will work on creating a schedule of regional and state events for the Iowa S3DA program. Zach will create fun conservation-related activities for the youth and their families at events. Iowa S3DA events will bring awareness to the program and encourage more clubs and organizations to join and compete. Denissa and Zach both stated that archery and hunting have the potential to change lives. They want to help make sure that everyone has access to programs, facilities, and equipment to learn the sport of archery.
How can you join the Iowa S3DA program? Iowa S3DA State Coordinator, Denissa Cornick encourages anyone interested in archery to reach out to her directly via phone (319) 561-0139 or e-mail (iowas3da@gmail.com).

S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States.
