CLAY CITY, KY (6/9/2025) – From June 3rd through June 8th, the world’s best archers took to the skies for the third leg of the World Archery World Cup series in Antalya, Turkey. GAS Bowstrings fueled archers dominated the event in a truly unrivaled fashion, capturing gold in 4 of the 5 compound events along with Women’s Recurve title!
The World Archery World Cup series consists of four events throughout the season, pitting the top 4 archers from each country in elimination style brackets where only the winners move on. The goal, of course, is to win – but all eyes are focused on qualifying for the World Cup Final; a special invite-only event where only the top 8 archers from each class are invited and massive “Vegas-type” prize money is at stake.
In preparation for the 2028 inclusion of compound archery at the Olympic Games, World Archery mixed things up in Antalya and utilized the new proposed compound scoring system in all classes. The X ring now counts for 11 points! This new scoring system put a clear emphasis on precision and the archers responded in turn.
Nico Girard, the Vegas Shoot runner-up, (High Octane) continued his top form of shooting as he surgically moved through his matches en route to taking down his second career World Cup stage win. On the women’s side of the field, Stage 1 winner Andrea Becerra (High Octane) was back on her A-game as she converted her #2 qualification seed into victory with an impressive 159 score (149 10x) in the finals.
World Archery competition also includes team round (the top 3 archers from each country) events along with a mixed team round (the top man and woman from each country). In the Men’s Compound class, the team from Denmark took gold. Martin Damsbo (SystmX), Mathias Fullerton (Freakshow) and Rasmus Bramsen (High Octane) knocked the absolute center out of the target as they took over the #1 seed by beating team USA in the ¼ finals and never looked back before defeating host country Turkey for gold, 242-239. Team GAS Bowstrings also took home the gold medal in the mixed team competition with Team USA archers Curtis Broadnax (Ghost XV) and Alexis Ruiz (Ghost XV) finishing things off with a massive score of 166 in the finals (just one point off the newly minted World Record of 167, which they set earlier in the tournament).
The arguably loudest medal of the event, however, came at the hands of the USA Women’s Recurve team! The American ladies team consisting of Casey Kaufhold, Catalina GNoriega and Jennifer Mucino (all shooting GAS Recurve + strings) have announced themselves as an early favorite to medal at the 2028 Games. Coming off a silver medal earlier this year at the World Cup in Florida, the USA ladies welcomed the new X is 11 scoring by stepping their game to never-seen-before levels. On their way to the top of the podium, Team USA faced perennial powerhouse Korea in the semifinals and came away with victory for the first time in team history – an absolutely massive statement!
