Canton, GA - Black Eagle Arrow Factory Team shooter Dan McCarthy earned his 3rd win of the ASA season and his 2nd ASA Shooter of the Year title when he won the Men’s Open Pro division of the ASA Classic in Metropolis, IL.
Dan McCarthy has been a model of consistency finishing on the podium in 5 out of 6 events and all eyes were on him as he took a sizable point lead into the ASA Classic, the final ASA event of the year. He did not disappoint. Despite shooting a solid round in day one of the event he trailed the leader by 10 points. On day two he began to close the gap and trailed by only 6 points heading into the shootdown where a two-hour weather delay only heightened the intensity. But McCarthy showed the consistency that has made him one of the top shooters in the game and was able to take the lead and finish the event for the win.
“It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to this point,” remarked McCarthy after the event. “There really aren’t any words to explain how good it feels. I’ve been so close for so many years but this is the first time since 2005 that I have been able to finish on top. There have been a lot of ups and downs along the way, but I would not be here today if it weren’t for the companies who support me. Randy Kitts and Black Eagle Arrows have played a such an important role in this championship and have supported me every step of the way.”
Black Eagle Arrow President, Randy Kitts:
“For any of our shooters to win Shooter of the Year is an outstanding accomplishment and very important to our company. But the relationship we have with Dan is special. He is not only a staff shooter for us but is very involved in product development, runs our professional shooting staff and plays a very important role in everything we do. Most importantly he is a great friend and was the first top level shooter to really believe in what we were doing. That is why we have his name on our Premium Signature Series arrows and that relationship makes this even more special. I could not be prouder of Dan McCarthy.”
