Williamsburg, KY – On June 20th, 2020, Georgia S3DA hosted the 3-D State Championship in Dewy Rose, Georgia. Due to the pandemic, this is the first-time archers from across the state of Georgia have been able to compete since the beginning of March. The kids were anxious to get back out on the range and Georgia S3DA staff did an amazing job of creating guidelines to ensure all archers and spectators safety.

One of the spectators at the event commented, “Despite all of the issues this year has brought, all of the staff that had a hand in putting this event together for our children should be so proud of the job they have done. I feel blessed to be able to see a quality bunch of people taking their time to help all these children succeed. What an awesome sport!”

GA State Coordinator, Jake Martin stated, “We felt very fortunate to be able to host this 3-D State Championship. We knew all the S3DA members were ready to hit the competition trail again, so it was important to Georgia S3DA Board and I to hold this event as close to normal as possible while still maintaining the proper social distancing guidelines. Overall, the event was a huge success.”

GA S3DA State Conservation Coordinator, Trip Penn, has been hosting a conservation quiz at each Georgia S3DA event this year. Trip secured over $500 worth of conservation related prizes and prize packs were put together for the three students with the highest number of correct answers. The remainder of the prizes were given away at random drawing based on participation in the quiz and survey. Georgia S3DA also held a campaign this season to award scholarship money to several Georgia archers that submitted an essay with the topic How to Better Grow Conservation Participation Within Georgia S3DA. Overall, a total of $1,000 in scholarship money was awarded.

Without their partnership and support, Georgia S3DA would not be able to fund a scholarship program or conservation activities. About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA students participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Students can participate at local, regional, state, and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
