S3DA’s 7th Annual Indoor National Championship

“S3DA’s 7th Annual Indoor National Championship Sees Record-Breaking Attendance!”

Williamsburg, KY – When 1,000 S3DA youth archers from across the United States meet at one location, you better believe the competition will be fierce, and that is exactly what it was! On March 3rd-6th, 2022 the S3DA Indoor National Championship was held at the Owensboro Convention Center in Owensboro, Kentucky. Youth archers from Pennsylvania to Montana, and Wisconsin to Florida converged on the range in Owensboro for their chance to be awarded the title of “S3DA National Indoor Champion” in their respective age division and class. 2022 marked the first year that S3DA held a stand-alone indoor national championship after essentially outgrowing the past collaboration with NFAA which had previously been held during the NFAA Indoor Nationals. This year also marked the first-ever S3DA 300-Round because time and space constraints had previously forced S3DA to maintain a 150-Round.

“We came to the national event this past weekend, and I really can’t express how amazing it was. Kentucky S3DA Regional Coordinator, Adam Logsdon, was the range official on my daughter’s range. He met her at a practice and gave her a tip to help her with her nerves. After my daughter shot her first perfect 150 round, Adam was right there. This kind man checked on her throughout her flight and took the time out just to ask how she was doing. He also did this for my son and for all the other children. We got a picture of her crying on his shoulder as he was the first coach or adult other than family to congratulate her. I cannot say enough great things about how awesome he was to all the children, not only mine. He is an amazing person and should be noticed for being such a great example,” stated S3DA parent and coach of the Central Michigan Goldstars, Jeffery Lodholtz.

S3DA Executive Director, Holly Helton said, “2022 definitely marks a turning point for the Scholastic Archery Association. We’ve now outgrown venues, had our first ever 300-Round tournament, blown away our previous record for indoor registration, and branched off into an Eastern and Western series of events. The future is looking very bright for S3DA. We have an extremely dedicated group of staff, coordinators, and coaches across the country that continue to push this program to new heights. We could do none of this without them.”

Owensboro Convention Center, which is a top-tier convention center, and a must-see business hub will be home to the 2023 S3DA Indoor National Championship. For more information regarding upcoming events, please be sure to visit www.s3da.org.

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
