The Kicking Bear Foundation Family, mourned the passing of one of its principal founders, Karen Howell. Listed below is an excerpt from the organizations Facebook posting:

With great sadness but yet joy, our beloved rock Karen L Howell went to be with Jesus on Friday May 13th. Her Christ centered focus, amazing smile, ministry focused heart and servant heart will forever be missed. She has left a lasting impression on countless people across the US to Mexico, Canada and Africa! Many thousands of miles spent on the road with her husband Ray, to spread the love of Jesus and Gods Ministry with Kicking Bear. We thank you Karen for blessing so many people with your gifts and being a true servant!
Ray Howell’s Kicking Bear Foundation will continue on its path of reaching thousands of underprivileged and single parent children, by introducing them to the great outdoors, and showing them all that “God has in store for them!”

Kicking Bear, a registered 501(c)3 organization, is a nationwide youth outreach ministry that was founded in the year 1999 by world renowned bowhunter, Ray Howell, and is headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We use our summer campouts, adventure days, youth hunts, and year-round mentorship to reach underprivileged and at-risk youth and to let them know that God has a purpose for them, and that purpose is good. Many of these children would never have the opportunity to experience the outdoors and the sport of archery, had it not been for Godly men and women who stepped into their lives. By encouraging others to reach outside their homes and become mentors, we can help break the cycle of broken families and put dreams in these kids’ hearts that will change not only their lives, but their families’ lives to come.
