Dallas Safari Club’s Inaugural Summer Expo & Foundation Gala A Huge Success, Showcasing Angola Reopening, Uniting Hunting Community

DALLAS, TX — Dallas Safari Club (DSC) successfully launched its inaugural Summer Expo & Foundation Gala, held July 17–19, 2025, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. The event brought together hunters, conservationists, and outdoor industry leaders from across the globe in a dynamic celebration of family, our hunting heritage and wildlife conservation.

Exhibitor & Attendee Landscape

Each day between 3,000 and 4,000 outdoor enthusiasts attended this 3-day expo, where they enjoyed a sold-out exhibition floor featuring approximately 450 exhibitor booths, showcasing many of the best outfitters from around the world, industry leading firearms and gear manufacturers, fine jewelers, fine art, and many other prominent outdoor lifestyle brands.

Highlight Announcement: Angola Reopens Regulated Hunting

A major highlight arrived with the announcement on the expo floor that the Republic of Angola has officially reopened to legal, regulated hunting—a historic step toward advancing wildlife management, habitat restoration, and community empowerment. DSC CEO Rob McCanna led the announcement, emphasizing that Angola’s strategic decision will “serve as a model for science?led sustainable use.” The announcement culminated in the signing of an MOU between DSC, its Angolan partners, and Conservation Force where these organizations pledged to cooperate on building a sustainable and vibrant hunting industry in the African country.

Signature Events & DSC Foundation Gala

The Angolan announcement was further emphasized with the auctioning of a 14-day plains game hunt in Angola during the DSC Life Member Breakfast. This special event featured Michelin Starred-Chef and host of The Outdoor Channel’s Farming the Wild, Mike Robinson. Chef Robinson spoke about the importance of eating wild game to our health and to connecting people with the oudoors, inspiring a standing round of applause from the DSC members.

Auctions throughout the course of the expo, culminating with the 5th Annual DSC Foundation Gala, together raised ~$3.5M in support of the DSC and DSC Foundation missions. Some of the money raised will support a new DSC Foundation initiative announced during the gala, the Global Care Fund.

The Global Care Fund provides financial relief to individuals or their families when those individuals suffer serious injury or death during the course of, or related to, providing services that ensure conservation of wildlife and associated habitats. McCanna added, “This program formation will allow DSC and DSC Foundation to further expand their global reach, assisting hunting and conservation industry professionals and their families at times of greatest need. Our commitment to this principle will never change.”

Organization Statements

“The inaugural DSC Summer Expo, paired with the 5th Annual DSC Foundation Gala, was an incredible success, further uniting and energizing our hunting and conservation community,” said McCanna. “The Angola announcement further exemplifies that well-regulated hunting and sound wildlife conservation together ensure the future of wildlife and wild places. DSC is committed to continuing to work with our trusted conservation partners around the world to advance strategic conservation, education and advocacy initiatives.”
