Fire N The Hole Broadhead’s 1x4 Mechanical Design Retains Maximum Kinetic Energy

Fire N The Hole Broadhead has designed a mechanism for a 1x4 broadhead which uses the least amount of kinetic energy to open. Bowhunters have dubbed the mechanism the “Reverse Scissors”.

Mechanical broadheads have blades that move to open to their designed span when triggered to do so. The concern is how much force is needed to open the mechanics and how much energy is lost in the process. Weather it be front deploying, rear deploying, folding, whatever the case may be, it takes away the kinetic energy of the shot. Fire N The Hole uses what has been dubbed by the bowhunters which use it the “Reverse Scissors”.

The Reverse Scissors action came into being during the design of the 4 inch broadhead called Slang Blade. The concern when designing the 4 inch was how do you get such a large broadhead into an animal and still have enough kinetic energy left to do the job. The solution, the Reverse Scissors. The mechanism is designed to stab in using cut on contact knife blades. This stabbing action uses minimal kinetic energy as the blades enter the animal. The angle on the front of the cut on contact blades allow for controlled side ways opening in coordination with the stabbing action. The result is a 1 inch entry wound and a 4 inch broadhead fully open when it reaches the vitals with enough kinetic energy to exit the animal leaving a devastating wound channel.

Image broadhead which enters a 1 inch opens to 4 inches with enough kinetic energy left to exit using a 40 lbs bow. Impossible? Not with this design. In fact the lowest poundage bow with a confirmed kill with the Slang Blade is 35 lbs by Matt Holliday of Colorado using a lever bow. He used his bowfishing bow to stalk and kill a mule deer doe.
