Michigan S3DA holds 3-D State Championship

Williamsburg, KY — Detroit Archers Archery Range hosted the Michigan S3DA 3-D State Championship in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The championship featured 26 archers from 3 different clubs across Michigan.

Special thanks go out to Kali’s Cure. The West Michigan Archery Center had some fantastic Action Track Chairs thanks to them. A disabled grandfather (Steve Van Dyke), who lives three hours away from his grandson, had the opportunity to attend the event and get to watch his grandson take third place, thanks to the all-terrain wheelchair.

S3DA Michigan State Coordinator, Laura Shambaugh said, “It was a great day to shoot 3-D targets in Michigan. Our youth had enormous fun, showed great sportsmanship and lots of smiles were seen on the course. Many generations of families attended with their young archers, being able to watch the competition as it happened. Thank you WMAC for lending out a motorized wheelchair and for providing an opportunity for a grandfather to see his grandson shoot. Thank you, Detroit Archers, for hosting the event and a thanks to the coaches for making this happen.”

“Would like to send a special thanks to our Global Kids, a 501c3 non-profit charity, for providing medals and awards for the event. Thanks to Detroit Archers and its members for the use of the facility, set-up and providing bonus targets. It was truly great to see young and new archers and their families at the oldest and most prestigious archery club in the Detroit area. It never ceases to amaze me how much compassion and respect archers demonstrate to support others,” stated Michigan Regional Coordinator, Nick Di Cresce.

Michigan S3DA continues to grow at a fast rate, as they will be hosting their 1st ever Outdoor Target State Tournament on June 2nd, 2018. Michigan looks forward to the coming year, with additional coaches being trained and new clubs/teams joining S3DA.
