Columbus, Texas — The Texas Outdoor Writers Association announces its annual BBQ & Wild game Cook-Off. This festive event will take place Friday and Saturday , October 16-17 in conjunction with the 2020 Fall Stampede at Shaw’s Ben Social Club in Columbus, Texas.
Teams from all over the state will compete in this International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) sanctioned event. Entry fee is $150 for the IBC main event and includes three meats of brisket, pork spare ribs and chicken. Additional entries can be made in the Wild Game Jackpot for $40.00 each and Margarita at $25. These two categories offer unlimited entries. Payout is 80 percent plus $1500 added money.

In addition to the tantalizing culinary treats that will be offered by the many chefs entering in the Cook-Off, the weekend events will be something you won’t want to miss. Weekend events will include the Texas Challenge shooting competitions which include rifle, pistol and archery, two-day rodeo, live music, hands on demonstrations of new products and information from leading conservation groups. Three full days of live music will fill the air and entertain.
This year’s Stampede will feature a special multi-county Back the Blue Rally to show the support to local law enforcement. Be sure to mark your calendar for October 16-18 – to join the festivities - whether you want to compete in the Cook-off or just come and enjoy the fun, food and activities.
