Wisconsin Holds First S3DA Indoor State Championship

Louisville, KY - On Feb. 12, Wisconsin held its first Indoor Scholastic 3-D Archery state championship tournament, with 49 archers competing in various S3DA classes.

The event was held at Old 45 Archery in Hortonville Wisconsin. Having a host shop that can accommodate that number of archers for both events was critical in the success of the event. Parents were able to watch their kids compete while enjoying some great food and stories with the owners, Chad and Jeanette Baerwald.

Spectators were treated to some amazing shooting with several kids shooting their best scores as S3DA members.
"We look forward to hosting the event again in 2018", said Jeanette Baerwald, one of the owners of Old 45. "We will look forward to more archers and even more fun as the S3DA program continues to grow in Wisconsin."
"It was nice meeting everyone yesterday. The staff was so welcoming", said Mary Leicht of Straight From Fondy Archery Club. "Loved your shop and how it is set up. Very accommodating for shooters. Everything was so organized and smoothly run for the kids who shot. We will definitely be back for other shoots and to visit with you again."
Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
