Kip Adams Joins Pennsylvania Prescribed Fire Council Board

ATHENS, GA – Kip Adams, Director of Conservation for the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA), joined the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Prescribed Fire Council at their annual conference in Gettysburg earlier this month.

“QDMA encourages more prescribed fire on the landscape, and that’s especially true in my home state of Pennsylvania,” said Adams. “I’m honored to be selected to the board, and I look forward to working with the other board and steering committee members to increase the understanding, appreciation and use of prescribed fire in Pennsylvania.”

The mission of the Pennsylvania Prescribed Fire Council is to promote the exchange of information, techniques, and experiences of the Pennsylvania prescribed fire community, and to promote public understanding of the importance and benefits of prescribed fire. Adams will serve a three-year term on the board of directors.

Adams, a certified wildlife biologist, has worked with prescribed fire throughout his career and on his own hunting land. He was a certified burn boss in Florida and helped burn over 60,000 acres in central Florida while working for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission from 1995-99. He has assisted with prescribed fires and educational training in nine states.

QDMA supports prescribed fire by supporting research efforts, sharing and promoting research project results, providing a platform for researchers to disseminate results, sharing information with deer hunters and habitat managers in our magazine, on our website, on our social media channels, in our advocacy efforts, at Deer Steward training courses, and more. QDMA’s CEO Brian Murphy has served on the steering committee of the Georgia Prescribed Fire Council for 18 years, and in 2017 QDMA served on the National Prescribed Fire Alliance.
