Arizona Mule Deer Organization Announces Board Changes

Phoenix, AZ – As they move into the warm season, The Arizona Mule Deer Board of Directors is excited to announce several changes to their governing structure. The Board is convinced that these changes will strengthen the organization in the long run, enabling them to be more responsive to Regional needs and perform vital field work with a focus of combining effectiveness with transparency. The Board would like to thank James Lawrence for his hard work and dedication throughout his term as President of the organization. Jim was instrumental in getting the Arizona Mule Deer Organization off to a good start and building a solid base. By virtue of a Board of Directors’ vote, Jim’s term as President ended in April. The Board will be forever grateful for his contributions.

In the past several months AMDO has also gained several dedicated board members and have promoted or confirmed several Officer positions. The Board welcomes Terry Herndon as the new Chief Executive Officer. Terry has been with AMDO since the beginning and has always put his passion for Arizona’s natural resources above all. As CEO, Terry will be highly involved with developing and maintaining important partnerships with all like-minded organization, as well as the public. Terry will remain the Board’s primary point of contact with the Regional representatives and will have an important role in guiding and prioritizing volunteer efforts in the field.

Russ Hegarty and John Napolitan have been named Chairman of the Board and Treasurer respectively. Taylor Lee and Jerry Howell have also joined the AMDO team as Directors, while Tammi Herndon continues as Board Secretary. The Board heartily welcomed back returning Board member Marshall McFarlane, while long-time Board members Larry McCormick and Kevin Hall round out the Board as Directors. This dedicated team is united with one common mission – to ensure the future of our Arizona Mule Deer and their habitat for years to come.

The Board ends this announcement with a special thanks and tip of the cap to the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours spent towards our mission. Incoming CEO Terry Herndon stated, “This organization is all about our volunteers. Our projects only become reality with help from all the great people throughout the state that commit time, money and muscle to helping wildlife in Arizona. Thank you for all that you do!”
