Whitetails Unlimited Funds $38,000 Wisconsin Handicap Blind Project

Whitetails Unlimited and its Burnett County Chapter are involved in a 5-year project to build and place six full-access hunting blinds in Burnett County, Wisconsin. The project is entering its fifth and final year and is projected to cost over $38,000. All six blinds will be placed in the Amsterdam Sloughs State Wildlife Area. The approximately 5,000-acre parcel is home to abundant wildlife including the white-tailed deer.

All hunting blinds will have clear shooting lanes, a 12-foot access ramp, thermo-pane windows, a metal roof, and a 40-inch access door. The blinds are ADA approved and are built to withstand the elements. The existing blinds are already being reserved for the upcoming hunting season. During non-hunting times, the blinds are available for wildlife viewing and other activities for disabled individuals to participate in the great outdoors.

“Our Preserving the Hunting Tradition program helps men, women, and children overcome obstacles and enjoy the outdoors,” said Whitetails Unlimited Program Services Director Russ Austad. “And these handicap accessible blinds do just that.”
