LaVergne, TN - MonsterMeal® and Kansas Farmland Outfitters have once again teamed up to give two deserving hunters the opportunity to experience a week-long rifle Kansas whitetail hunt in December 2020.
This year’s hunt recipients are Justin Abernathy and Marcus Howard.
SFC Marcus Howard: A retired 20 year veteran of the US Army. 6 Combat Tours as a Combat Engineer. Currently an active duty Police Officer in his hometown of Fountain, CO. Marcus’ story is inspiring. He was nominated by last year’s participant CW4 Ben Cuevas. Why? Because along with an arm’s length list of accomplishments and awards as a serviceman, he helped Ben expand his hunting career when Ben deployed to Fort Collins, CO.
Sgt. (E5) Justin Abernathy (Ret.): 12 years US Army Infantryman. 3 Combat Deployments. He resides in Stout, Iowa with his wife and children. Justin was recommended by Brian Smith, camera operator for KFO hunt #1 and owner of Above The Game and STUBZmedia. Why? They met at a Retrieving Freedom Inc. turkey hunt and Brian was inspired by his history, demeanor, and his transition to retirement with his dog, Scout.
MonsterMeal® Alternate Brand Manager, Blake Davis said, “We never really had a structure for who gets to participate, but we all agreed that Steve has the opportunity and letting our participants just hunt was the goal. Honestly, the hardest part is figuring out who gets that opportunity. So we looked at the recommendation of past participants based on the integrity of those 2 individuals. Who else could see the right fit than the people who actually got to attend last season.. MonsterMeal® is really just a small part of this event, but it is among the most important things we participate in because we get to pay a debt. Kansas Farmland Outfitters has a new lodge, phenomenal ground, and owner Steven Hall possesses one of the best ‘all deer’ perspectives I have engaged with. He has a proven history of putting big Kansas bucks in front of his clients. As we continue to provide opportunities through partnership, MonsterMeal® hopes to find deserving and capable people to recognize. This hunt is such a small way to say “Thank You” for what they and countless others have done for our country.”
