Williamsburg, KY – Hamilton County Fox Archery hosted the 7th Indoor Regional for the 2022 Illinois S3DA competition season at the White County Archery range in Carmi, Illinois. More than seventy youth archers from eight S3DA teams across southwest Illinois met to compete. A representative from Rend Lake College attended the event and discussed college opportunities with many of the S3DA youth archers. Donnie Millenbine with Rend Lake College stated, “If there are any kids interested in archery, love the outdoors, and like to challenge themselves in a competitive sport, S3DA is the choice. Some youth archers are just starting to shoot archery, and many are not comfortable enough to compete at a national level, so this program allows them to compete locally within their state and then when they are comfortable enough and would like to compete at the National level, they have the opportunity to do so.”
One of the Illinois Regional Coordinators said, “It is refreshing to see our kids coming together and shooting again. These kids really have fun with their archery friends and family, and it seems like they make new friends every year. There is really more happening here than just shooting arrows.”
“I really like being with my friends and shooting archery. I am excited to continue shooting and can’t wait to see how I finish this season,” stated Hamilton County Fox Archery S3DA archer, Klayton Clark.
Illinois S3DA will host their final Indoor Regionals on February 12th leading up to the State Indoor Championship on February 19th in Albion, Illinois. At the state championship, Illinois S3DA will award 2022 Indoor Shooter of the Year to the top Indoor archer. To qualify for the title, archers must be active S3DA members, compete in three Indoor Regionals and the State Championship and there must be at least three eligible competitors in that respective division to qualify. The top three scores and bonus count from each indoor regional event plus the state championship will be accumulated to announce the winners. The top archers in each division and class will be crowned “Illinois Indoor Shooter of the Year.” For more information on the Illinois S3DA program and to check out Indoor Shooter of the Year standings, be sure to check out the Illinois S3DA Facebook page.

S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting.
