The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is always looking for ways to celebrate our students, and this year NASP® organized a student t-shirt design contest to show off their artistic abilities. Current NASP® students were asked to create a design for the National and Open Championship tournament t-shirts.
Through a partnership with the Safari Club International Foundation, S3DA was able to reward one deserving youth archer with a New Mexico elk tag. Archers submitted an application to S3DA with some of their pertinent demographic information along with some essay questions regarding their hunting experience and why they should be chosen. The applications are then reviewed by a committee which ultimately decides the recipient, which this year was Blayne Hunt.
Camp Leopold and the South Carolina Waterfowl Association (SCWA) are grateful to announce a partnership with Dominion Energy. Dominion Energy has pledged $50,000 in support to provide multi-day outdoor education experiences to over 5,000 students within Dominion Energy service territories throughout South Carolina.
At Pope and Young, we value the youth, and see them as the future of bowhunting. In order to preserve, promote, and protect our bowhunting passion, it has to be passed onto the next generation of hunters. So, we want to send a Pope and Young youth member on a free hunt, tags and license included, a California Black Tail hunt with our good friends from Arrow Five Outfitters.
A grant from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund will allow the South Carolina Waterfowl Association (SCWA) to host nearly 1,000 students at Camp Leopold this coming school year.
Pope and Young announces the development of the Kevin Hisey Youth Program, designed to increase opportunities for youth within Pope and Young and their conservation efforts focused on preserving, promoting, and protecting the sport of bowhunting. The program is named in honor of Kevin Hisey a highly respected employee of Pope & Young since 1992, and former Executive Director for 15 years, the longest tenure in that role in Pope & Young’s history.

The Pennsylvania Triple Trophy is accomplished by harvesting an Antlered Whitetail, a Black Bear, and a Wild Turkey all in the same license year. It’s a rare and difficult feat for seasoned hunters but made even more special when accomplished by a youth hunter. Recently, 17-year-old Pennsylvania S3DA youth archer Logan Shepard accomplished this task. The Scholastic Archery Association (S3DA) was pleased to award Logan with the inaugural S3DA Conservation Award for his efforts.
S3DA archer, Gunner Wells, from Impact Archery in Williamsburg, Kentucky was recently selected to go on a two-day guided hunt at Salt River Outfitters.
Colorado S3DA State Coordinator, Ryan Hudson, Colorado S3DA State Conservation Coordinator, Dan Uhrich, and the Arrow Busters archery team hosted an archery mule deer doe hunt in Colorado. The hunt was provided by Tom and Tammi Bieser of Mesa, Colorado, and Eric Bruton Guide Service. A selection committee read and discussed the one-page essays that were submitted by students in regards as to why they should be chosen for the hunt. The four lucky students that were chosen were: Brighton and John Bair of Meeker County, Porter Briscoe of Grand Junction, and Kaedyn Nielson of Palisade County.
The Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation (TSAA) is a non-profit organization that focuses on tree stand safety and ensures that every hunter that uses a tree stand does so in a safe manner so that he or she comes home safe to their family and friends. The mission of the Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation is to significantly reduce tree stand incidents through promotion, education, and best practices.
Trinity Oaks is asking San Antonio youth to turn off their cell phones and shut off their game boxes and join them for real outdoor fun at the H20 Youth Adventure Camp. This FREE one-day event is open to all kids between the ages of 9 to 16. It will be held on September 11, 2021 at the Bexar Community Shooting Range from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The Wisconsin Division of Izaak Walton League of America voted April 10 to fund scholarships for students who successfully complete the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s Conservation Leadership Corps training for the 2021-2022 academic year, according to Division President Michael Fuge of Stevens Point. More than 250 youth in the Bannock County, Idaho, 4-H Program will have the opportunity to learn about archery and practice their bow-shooting skills thanks to a $4,200 donation, in cash and equipment, from the Southeast Idaho Building and Construction Trades Council (BCTC). The BCTC hosts an annual Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) conservation dinner to raise funds for local conservation efforts.
As the 2020 -2021 school year nears completion, educators and coaches are still dealing with the impact of Covid 19. Many schools are still operating virtually, while some are slowing getting back to in-person classes. Throughout this school year, NASP® educators and coaches took steps to nominate and recognize the academic performance of their student archers using local criteria. At the close of the enrollment window on April 1st, 17,344 students were enrolled by their coaches as NASP® Academic Archers from 41 US states, 3 Canadian provinces, as well as nominations from Africa!
