COMPETITION
 
On April 16th, 2022, Hamilton County Fox Archery hosted an Illinois 3D Regional at the Rend Lake Archery Complex in Whittington, Illinois. Nearly 100 archers from eleven S3DA teams across the state gathered to compete.

South Ridge Archery in Portland, Tennessee hosted the first 3D Regional tournament for Tennessee S3DA. With more than two hundred plus in attendance the range was crowded with archers, parents, coaches, etc.

The Western Classic is the world’s largest marked 3-D archery competition, drawing archers of all skill levels from around the world looking to compete in the tournament that has been dubbed “the go-to shoot” of the year. Archers from across the globe made the trek to Redding for the 38th annual event, taking on the challenge of the three-day competition on a 70-target course. The course runs over varied terrain with distances ranging from 3 yards to the famed Bigfoot target at 101 yards.

Tim Gillingham is the 2022 Champion in the Senior Male Championship division in the 2022 NFAA Marked 3D National Championships.

Bowtech is proud to announce that Pro Shooter Paige Pearce is the 2022 Champion in the Female Championship division of the 2022 NFAA Marked 3D National Championship in Redding, California.

The National Archery in the Schools Program returned to in-person bullseye competition with the 2022 Western National Tournament at the Mountain America Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah on April 29-30, 2022. This was the first return to the western location since the Covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 events there. A total of 1,359 archers, from 22 states, attended this year’s bullseye tournament.
EVENTS
 
The R100 National Archery Tour heads to Conroy, AR, May 13-15, 2022. This event is hosted in partnership with Central Arkansas Bowhunters and Arkansas Bowhunters Association.

Pope and Young is just over a week out from their Bowhunters Bash at the Bakcou Center – Weber County Archery Park. The event is set to take place on Saturday, May 14th, and is an event that you don’t want to miss. After a full day of activities, a ticketed dinner and fundraising auction will wrap up the evening.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will host the 32nd annual RMEF World Elk Calling Championships, presented by Sportsman’s Warehouse, at the RMEF Elk Camp & Mountain Festival on July 22-23, 2022, in Park City, Utah. Participants will face off for the opportunity to win more than $45,000 in cash, hunting gear and other prizes.

On a cold and sunny morning, South Carolina S3DA youth archers Emma Hernandez, Lucas Alcalde, Maddie Tadlock and Lawson Qualls along with South Carolina State Coordinator, Sheila Tadlock and South Carolina Conservation Coordinator, Patty Reel joined Captain Sarah Bryson from Salty Hooker Fishing Charter for a fishing expedition in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

ORGANIZATIONS
 
Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Mindy Mair as the new Utah S3DA State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Mindy will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Utah, including promoting the program across the state to gain team and individual memberships, providing trainings for new coaches, and providing S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues (tournaments) with minimal travel.

In late April, the Judges Panel for the Boone and Crockett Club’s 31st Big Game Awards completed the official scores on 71 of the top trophies in 32 categories from 26 distinct species or subspecies that were taken through fair chase hunting or were picked up and entered into the B&C Record Book over the last three years. The mounts that were panel scored for the 31st Big Game Awards—and those of 25 youth-harvested trophies that were added to the record book—are now on display to the public at Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium in Springfield, Missouri.

The Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund recently provided a $70,000 grant to the Boone and Crockett Club to support policy development and outreach efforts, the Club’s Poach & Pay project to address wildlife crime, and for expanding conservation education programs.
