Clay City, Ky- GAS Bowstrings Shooters had a strong showing at this year's Sud de France- Nîmes Archery Tournament! Three GAS Bowstrings pro shooters made it through their elimination matches to make it into the gold and bronze medals shoot-offs.
Mathias Fullerton made his way through the men’s compound elimination bracket, taking out several heavy hitters in the class! In his quarterfinal match, he tied his competition 148-148 putting them in a one-arrow shoot-off where Mathias was the victor. In the gold medal match, he missed the gold by a mere 2 points, putting him in second place.
Tanja Gellenthien made yet another showing on the podium for this year’s indoor season! Tanja worked her way up through the bracket to the bronze medal match where she beat out her competitor by one point for the bronze medal, 148-147. So far, she has podiumed at every single indoor event she has participated in!
Braden Gellenthien had a good showing this past weekend, where he had a series of tight matches leading up to his bronze medal match! He won his first three matches, 149-148, 149-148 again, and tied his third match 148-148 with a closest-to-center one-arrow shoot-off. Mathias bested him by two points in his fourth match putting him in the bronze. Then Braden came short by just a point in his bronze medal match to place fourth overall.
Finally, we would like to give a shoutout to Aljaz Brenk who competed at Nîmes in the compound men’s U21 division. The scores in this division from first to fourth place were so tight that there was only a point difference between each place. Aljaz scored a 589 putting him in second!
Congratulations to all GAS Bowstrings shooters who made the podium this past weekend! We are always pleased to see our shooters doing well and are excited to see how the rest of the indoor season will shake out!
