South Carolina S3DA Hosts 1st Indoor Regional of 2022

Williamsburg, KY – Hawthorne Christian Academy is a private nonprofit Christian school in Chester, South Carolina serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Hawthorne Christian Academy started an S3DA team a little over three years ago and have continued to contribute to the success of the South Carolina S3DA program. Nearly one hundred youth archers from eleven teams across the state gathered to compete at Hawthorne in the first South Carolina S3DA Indoor Regional of the 2021-2022 competition season. Much like the rest of the country, South Carolina archers continue to battle the challenges of the COVID pandemic, so the staff is trying to make sure everyone stays safe while competing.

South Carolina State Coordinator, Sheila Tadlock says, “We knew coming into this that we were going to have some kids that just could not make it, but the inclement weather was really unexpected. Despite the cold and snowy weather our kids and their families were adamant about getting to compete. I was so proud to see that our coaches rallied around the archers to help when several of our veteran coaches were not able to attend. We had approximately 200 people in attendance, which was amazing for our first event of the year! South Carolina S3DA continues to grow with our newest charter school Cherokee Charter Academy out of Gaffney, hitting the ground running with a roster of 48 archers.”

“All of the volunteers worked flawlessly and tirelessly to accommodate the archers regardless of their experience. However, the most rewarding part was being able to work one-on-one with everyone. The entire gamut of youth archers ranging from Jr. Eagle to Young Adult were all cooperative, well-mannered, and polite. Each archer showed genuine character and was a testimony to the type of individuals that S3DA hopes to impact, “stated USA Archery Level II Trainer, Norman Bonnette.

Bethel University provided scholarship certificates to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place podium finishers in the Young Adult Division.
