Tennessee Wildlife Federation Seeks Programs Communications Coordinator

Tennessee Wildlife Federation seeks a dynamic individual to manage its traditional, social, and digital media engagement for the Federation’s outreach programs and reports to the Director of Communications.

The Tennessee Wildlife Federation Programs Communications Coordinator position will assist the Director of Communications in the creation of content for print and online media, media outreach, social media administration, and other materials to support the Federation’s programs: Hunting & Fishing Academy, Scholastic Clay Target Program, and Hunters for the Hungry to ultimately support the Federation’s mission to conserve Tennessee’s water, wildlife, and wild places.

Location: Based in Nashville with a statewide reach

Reports to: Director of Communications

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Conduct media outreach, monitor and manage social media for the Federation’s outreach programs;

·Draft and proofread content including press releases, blog posts, social media content, invitations, newsletters, and other website content and related items to communicate the works and accomplishments of the Federation’s programs;

·Liaise between programs and communications departments to optimize and drive outreach activities;

·Coordinate with graphic designers and marketing specialists to generate creative communications materials;

·Assist in results reporting including media coverage, website performance, and social media as it pertains to the results of the Federation’s outreach programs;

·Represent the Federation during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings as needed;

·Help staff various Federation program events when needed, cover and photograph various Federation program events across the state as needed (company car and/or reimbursement provided);

·Manage and produce special projects as needed and other duties as assigned;

·Communicate a positive conservation voice to the general public that generates interest and appeal;

·Valid driver’s license and occasional travel required.

Key Qualifications: As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of Tennessee Wildlife Federation and be driven by the mission. The candidate will have the following experience and attributes:

·Bachelor’s degree (B. S. or B. A.) from four-year college or university preferably in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field; at least a year of experience in editorial, marketing, or public relations field; or equivalent combination of education and experience;

·Strong writing, editing, and verbal communications skills;

·Media outreach experience and ability to create relationships with media contacts;

·Experience in social media marketing/administration;

·Keen interest in public relations, social media, and digital trends;

·Ability to create connections and mine for proactive opportunities to insert the Federation’s programs into online conversation;

·Strong computer skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office and Google products (Word, Powerpoint, Google Analytics, etc.);

·Basic understanding of SEO;

·Proactive, accountable, and results-oriented with an attention to detail;

·Resourceful and efficient;

·Ability to handle pressure of deadlines, juggle multiple responsibilities, maintain a professional and positive attitude, and work as a team player;

·Experience in digital photography and/or video a plus;

·Experience with online database management and email systems like Constant Contact or MailChimp a plus;

·Basic design skills and working knowledge of desktop publishing software on Macintosh-based system, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva a plus;

·Familiarity with WordPress website management a plus;

·Passion for and/or familiarity with outdoor sporting a plus.

Physical Requirements and Work Environments:

·Ability to perform physically challenging work outdoors;

·Ability to work outdoors in summer heat or inclement weather for several days;

·May be required to traverse rough terrains;

·Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for program events and implementation;

·Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;

·Ability to sit, stoop, bend, climb, and lift objects;

·Ability to operate a safe mode of transportation for functions/events, transportation of supplies and meetings.
