GAS Bowstrings and SystmX Dominate the Redding Trail Shoot

CLAY CITY, KY - The SystmX string system, made by GAS Bowstrings, has been gaining incredible traction and results since its release in Q4 of 2024. So far in 2025, SystmX has been a part of countless successful hunts along with winning numerous professional titles in both indoor and outdoor target events along with several 3D tournament titles.

Most recently, the world’s best archers took to the hills of Redding, California to compete at the 41st Western Classic Trail Shoot, commonly known as “Redding,” hosted by the Straight Arrow Bowhunters. This event pits archers against steep angles, tricky sidehills, swirling winds and targets varying in both size and distance, ranging from 3 yards all the way out to 101 yards. Redding is the ultimate test for an archer’s preparation, exposing even the tiniest flaws in their equipment and shooting form.

This year, GAS Bowstrings archers brought SystmX strings to the Redding Trail Shoot for the first time and walked away with 8 of the 9 professional medals available, sweeping both the Women’s Pro and Senior Pro divisions along the way! California native Paige Pearce led the women’s professional division after the grueling 3 day competition where she left it all out on the field, literally. Early on day 1, Paige took a tumble on the unforgiving terrain – resulting in 24 stitches in her leg! Despite this setback, Paige showed incredible grit and resilience, as she hobbled around the course peppering the middle of the targets. With her trusty SystmX strings by her side, Paige went on to win the event by 4 points and secured her unprecedented 10th Redding title. Not even 20+mph winds could stop Isabelle Geissbuhler (SystmX) from her day 3 surge that saw her move up the leaderboard and into second place. Teammate Cassidy Cox battled hard throughout the week as well, managing a 3rd place finish over Tanja Gellenthien in a shootoff. Both Cassidy and Tanja also choose SystmX for competition.

In the Senior Men’s Professional division, Montana’s Rob Morgan put on a clinic as he masterfully made his way around the 70-target course enroute to an 8-point victory over second place. We had a moment with Rob where he told us, “I have shot GAS Bowstrings for several years and when they released SystmX, I knew it was going to be something special. The confidence I have in these strings gave me one less thing to worry about as my bow held its marks and my peep never wavered throughout the entire event.” Fellow GAS shooters Mark Rubio (Freakshow) and Lynn Hoch (Ghost XV) took second and third, respectively. In the Open Pro division, GAS Bowstrings shooters Louis Price and Taylor Spoolstra finished in the second and third positions – both archers using SystmX.

At this point, you are most likely asking yourself “So what exactly sets SystmX apart from every other string I’ve used?”

It starts with the design. Each set of SystmX is built specifically for your exact bow model. GAS Bowstrings created individual blueprints for over 150 models of flagship target and hunting bows. Their engineers mapped out serving lengths and speed nock locations to trim excess weight and maximize performance for each and every bow model for which SystmX is offered. On top of the actual string designs, the major difference between SystmX and all other strings is the actual material used. SystmX sets utilize a brand-new material called VX2 that is patented by GAS Bowstrings and produced by BCY Fibers. This material is everything that an archer could ask for and more. VX2 material boasts a never-before-seen blend of HMPEs that have come together to produce the lightest, fastest, most flexible and strongest string bundles that the archery world has ever seen. What this means for the archer is that they’re going to have a string that is incredibly consistent from shot to shot while also taming shock from even the most vibration-prone target rigs. On top of increased consistency/accuracy and a softer shot feel, SystmX also boasts increased speeds over factory string.

Like all other GAS Bowstrings string offerings, SystmX comes with a 1 year warranty against peep rotation, serving separation and material defect. To maximize accuracy, we encourage customers to note which nock they intend to use with each set of strings so that the center serving diameter can be optimized for performance.
