At the NFAA Marked Distance 3D Nationals, which took place May 5-7 in Redding, California, it was a close race to the top of the podium. In the Men’s Senior Pro, staffer Mark Rubio showed his depth of skill taking first place, while staff manager Tim Gillingham took third place. In the Men’s Pro, Kyle Douglas also took third after a tight three-way shoot off.

The tournament also featured a “best ball” style team event with two-shooter teams. In the Senior Pro division, there was a three-way tie for first and Gillingham’s center punched shot secured the win for both him and his teammate, fellow Gold Tip staffer Benton Christensen.

The USA Archery Gator Cup, a qualifying event for the USA Archery Team, took place the following weekend and again saw Team Gold Tip and Team Bee Stinger finishing strong. Pro staffer Austin Taylor took home the second-place spot in the Senior Pro division, while KJ Polish dominated in the Para division and team trials, taking first place in both. Meanwhile, Gillingham finished in second place in the Master’s Division while Bee Stinger shooter Ken Brunko took home his first Gold Medal. Throughout the event, most Gold Tip archers shot Pierce Tours for their wind-bucking abilities.
