S3DA Names Simmons Oklahoma State Coordinator

Louisville, KY – Continuing the growth of their youth archery program, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Brent Simmons as the new S3DA Oklahoma State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Brent will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Oklahoma, including tournaments, instructor courses, and training and dividing the state into regions, allowing S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Brent will recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.

"We are super excited to have Brent be a part of this program," says Jennie Richardson, Executive Director for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "Someone like Brent, with his personal experience competing in all of our partner's organization's events, will bring knowledge and growth to Oklahoma. We have had an overwhelming amount of interest in Oklahoma and I am sure that Brent will do a phenomenal job promoting S3DA, building a regional coordinator system, and running events".

Brent J. Simmons grew up in southern Oklahoma and now resides in Edmond, Oklahoma, with his wife and three children: Jack, Micah, and Ruby. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves to hunt and fish. "Some of my fondest memories are of spending time in the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with my dad and brother," said Brent. "As a teenager, I became interested in archery and saved my money to order my first compound bow. That Browning bow introduced me to a new hunting style and desire to someday compete against other archers." Brent's love for the outdoors is contagious, as his son Jack has developed a love for archery. "We enjoy traveling together and competing in ASA, NFAA, and USA Archery events, as well as, spending quality time in tree stands and ground blinds pursuing whitetail deer," added Brent. "It's my hope to help establish Scholastic 3-D Archery in Oklahoma, to introduce archery to youth, help young archers develop their skill, teach them about bow hunting, and give them an opportunity to attend college on an archery scholarship."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving
thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
