Louisville, KY - Indiana held their 2017 3-D State Championship on May 20th 2017 at Pinehill Archery Club in Danville Indiana. Rain and lightning postponed the scheduled start time but after a lengthy delay and a couple inches of rain, the 233 kids were finally able to take the range. Despite the delay, these young archers were ready and it showed in their scores with just a point or two deciding several classes including the "shooter of the year."

"We put in a lot of time and effort preparing for this tournament, and other than the rain delay, it went very well," said Jay Morris of Pinehill Archery Club. "It has been a great indoor and 3-D season here in Indiana and we are looking forward to our Outdoor Target Championship in July."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving
thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
