Brady Ellison Headlines August BOWHUNTING
HARRISBURG, Pa. (July 12) – With the Summer Olympics only three weeks away, archery fans can preview the Rio Games in the August issue of Petersen's BOWHUNTING, featuring top U.S. men's recurve archer Brady Ellison.
The issue, which hits newsstands nationwide today, includes a cover story on Ellison's quest for Olympic glory. As a three-time Olympian and the top finisher in USA Archery's Olympic Trials, Ellison anchors a three-man U.S. team that hopes to build on its silver-medal performance four years ago in London. And with 2016 tournament victories lifting him as high as No. 2 in recent World Archery rankings, Ellison is also among the favorites to claim a coveted individual gold medal in Rio.
"The Olympic individual gold is the end all, be all," said Ellison, who is pictured on the cover wielding the Hoyt Formula Prodigy RX bow he'll use at the Games. "I know that you kind of need that [Olympic gold medal] on your resume if you want to go down as one of the greats."
The Ellison article also touches on his lifelong love of bowhunting, a pursuit he described as even more intense than international competition. "For me, hunting is a little more adrenaline filled than shooting in the Games, if I want to be honest," he said. "In a tournament, if you have one bad shot, you can get away with it. You can't do that on the hunting side."
Other highlights of BOWHUNTING's August edition – dubbed 'The Shooting Issue' – include features on backyard drills for bowhunting success, mastering the mental side of archery and how to make the toughest shots in bowhunting. Pick up your copy today, or subscribe at www.bowhuntingmag.com.
