The 2015 Urban Deer Hunt is ready for new archer applications.
The lottery for all hunters interested in 2015 urban deer archery hunt is open and available for registration until March 31. Names will be drawn randomly to fill 15-20 spots, and all those selected will be notified in April.
Everyone selected must attend a mandatory bow hunter education course that is held in June.
Upon completion of the course, new hunters will receive their 2015 permit and hunting location/assignment, along with any additional information, including landowner contact information, maps, etc.
The season itself runs September 5 through December 31, 2015.
This year marks the fifth hunt, which has harvested 405 deer since its inception. Of those, 4,751 pounds of ground venison from 192 deer, or 47 percent of the total harvest, has been donated to community organizations to help those in need.
