Orem, UT - It was a clean sweep for Gold Tip shooters vying for the IBO Triple Crown Titles in the Men's, Women's and Senior Pro Classes, at the recent IBO tournament, held July 11-13, in Marengo, OH. The Marengo event was the third and final leg of the Triple Crown race and Levi Morgan used it as the launching pad for his fifth IBO Triple Crown Title in a row, with an IBO Triple Crown points total of 1258. Fellow Gold Tip Shooter, Art Brown took the IBO Triple Crown Title in the Senior Pro Class with a points total of 1200, while Sharon Carpenter claimed the title in Women's Pro Class with a points total of 1151. A total of 12 Gold Tip Pros Staffers won the prestigious IBO Triple Crown title in their respective classes.
At the Marengo IBO event itself, Levi Morgan claimed his second IBO event win of the season, finishing with a final score of 430. In impressive fashion, Morgan shot an amazing 32 out of 40 11-rings for the tournament, which broke his own World Record of 30 out of 40 11-rings at an IBO event. Fellow Gold Tip shooters,Tim Gillingham and Joseph Goza finished second and third, respectively.
All told, the top six finishers in the Men's Pro Class were all shooting Gold Tip arrows and using Bee Stinger stabilizer systems. Morgan and Goza were both shooting Gold Tip Ultralight Pro Series 22's, while Gillingham was shooting Gold Tip Ultralight Pro X-cutters.
"I shot 430, with 32 out of 40 11-rings, which was the best round of my life," said IBO Triple Crown Champion, Levi Morgan. "Looking back now I really don't know how weekends like this happen other than God guiding my arrows and helping me make good decisions."
Gold Tip shooter, Duane Price, took home the win in Marengo in the Senior Pro Class, while fellow Gold Tip shooter, Bill Sennnick, finished third. In the Women's Pro Class, Gold Tip Pro Staffer, Sharon Carpenter, who is having an incredible year after switching back to Gold Tip arrows, finished second in the Women's Pro Class.
The Pro Division of each IBO sanctioned 3-D event features a total of 20 unmarked targets shot on Day 1 and 20 unmarked targets shot on Day 2. Contestants shoot each target twice per day, scored as 5 (non-vital body), 8, 10, and 11-point rings per target, thus a perfect possible score of 440. Target distances varied in range out to a maximum of approximately 50 yards. No range finding equipment is allowed at the IBO unmarked event, putting additional pressure on shooters to accurately judge distances.
"Our Gold Tip Pro Staff continues to impress at every level, as they have all season; this was pure domination," said Tim Gillingham, Pro Staff Director for Gold Tip Arrows.
