Hunting the Dream is the eighth book authored by award-winning outdoor journalist and Hall of Fame bowhunter, M. R. James. Best known as the founder of Bowhunter magazine, he led that publication as editor for 35 years. He's also a past President of the Pope and Young Club and current President of the Archery Hall of Fame.
James tagged his first record book whitetail deer half a century ago in 1963 and in 1975 was editor of the first P&Y bowhunting record book, working with Fred Bear and Glenn St. Charles, among other Club officers. A year later he released his initial by-lined book, selling thousands of copies of Bowhunting for Whitetail and Mule Deer. Other popular titles followed over the decades. The new book, however, is not a typical M. R. James offering.
"This is a deeply personal book," James explained, "something I had to write. But I worked hard to include material with a wider appeal. My goal was to make it meaningful for any man or woman harboring deep-seated and universally shared emotions involving family and friends, love and loss, life and death. There are plenty of outdoor adventure stories, of course, but there are several chapters readers might not expect to find in a 'hunting' book."
Consider chapter titles such as "Country Girls and Cut Pigs," "Stupid Is as Stupid Does," "One Way to Kill a Wife," "A Bear's in My Tent," "Christy Looks Different with Her Clothes On," and "A $20,000 Haircut." It should be apparent Hunting the Dream promises unexpected twists along the less traveled trail followed by a man who rose from small town obscurity to stand spotlighted on the international stage as one of modern archery and bowhunting's most long- serving and passionate promoters
Signed copies of the new 348-page, well-illustrated softcover book are available online from the author at www.mrjamesbowhunter.com or as a Kindle eBook at www.amazon.com. Amazon and Barnes and Noble also accept orders for the paperback edition of Hunting the Dream.
