On March 21, 2012, in partnership with Caddis Interactive, QDMA launched the redesign of its website, QDMA.com.
With the redesign, the primary focus of the website was shifted to deliver educational content for deer hunters and to become the place to go on the Web for hunters wanting to improve their hunting through Quality Deer Management. Additionally, the redesign also focused on better support of QDMA's members and volunteers.
Designed to be easy to navigate while becoming more informative, interactive and visually appealing through several enhancements and new features, the new website has offered tremendous amounts of content the previous design could not support.
Redesign Leads to More Content for Visitors:
Since the launch of the redesign, there have been 140 educational articles and over 40 press releases posted on QDMA.com.
Meanwhile, QDMA Branches have also been able to share their news on the site as well, contributing nearly 90 news items over the past year. These are the grassroots, volunteer stories that are the heart of QDMA! After being virtually nonexistent on the old version of the site, they are now readily featured.
Furthermore, the ability to share videos and photo galleries did not exist with the previous design. Since re-launching the site, QDMA has shared 22 videos and 18 photo galleries with visitors, and this is an area of the site that continues to grow. Other previously unavailable features that have become available on the new site include the ability to "Search QDMA," locate Branches through an interactive directory map, view archived press releases and Branch news, the ability to share content through social media and comment sections following articles, blogs and news items.
More Interaction:
The more structured navigation and functionality of the site has also simplified the process of learning about and signing up for QDMA membership, National Convention, Deer Steward certification, land certification and the youth group the Rack Pack, which was able to launch its own website within the past year as part of the redesigning efforts.
"The availability of free content and the simplified navigation resulted in a significant increase in traffic in the first year of the new website," said Lindsay Thomas Jr., Director of Communications. "Many more new visitors are finding the site, spending more time and viewing more pages. They're also learning about QDMA and our mission of ensuring the future of deer and our deer-hunting heritage. The net result is membership growth, which is improving QDMA's effectiveness at achieving our conservation mission."
