Archery Wire Holiday Gift Ideas – Part 1

Earlier in November, I asked you all for your holiday gift ideas and the response was stupendous! So much so that I need to separate this into TWO editions. The gift guide is a mix of fun and practical, and of budget-friendly and budget-blowout; this is 2020, after all, the rules are out the window. Enjoy this first part of the gift guide – Michelle Scheuermann, editor, Archery Wire.

For You, or That Hard to Buy Person:

  • Usual Wines: One of the best things about hosting a podcast (Off the Record with The Sporting Chef & Michelle) about wine and wild game – is finding new wines. One of our guests, Susie Jimenez, was drinking wine from Usual Wine Company out of Sonoma on the podcast. The unusual bottle (looks like a beaker!) and glowing review from Susie, had me quickly ordering a case ($96/12 bottles.) Since that podcast (listen here) I’ve ordered three more cases. The little bottles are perfect for “just one.”
    • Wine for Gifting – If you want the receiver to know you spent money, order a Cabernet Sauvignon from Silver Oak – the Napa Valley location. (Ranges $100-$200) If you want the receiver to THINK you spent a lot of money, give the Chardonnay from Michael David Winery. ($24.99)
  • Carbon Unwind: If you didn’t think you ever needed to meditate – or needed help falling asleep, let me introduce you to 2020. Give this new App a try from my friend, Julie McQueen. In fact, Julie and many other well-known hunters and conservationists have lent their voices to this app. (Free, offers in-app purchases.)

Gifts for Littles – My good friend Jenny Anderson (@Girlof10000Lakes) wrote an ice-fishing book for kids! Get your copy of 123 Ice Fishing here. I’m told there is more to follow in this series, and I can’t wait. ($9.99)

Gifts for Adventurers and People Who Think They are “Outdoorsy People:”

  • Grizzy Cooler G20: This cooler is the total weekend camping cooler package with 20-quart capacity, enough room for adventure, food, beverages, and ice to keep everything fresh and cold. It holds up to 24 cans with five pounds of ice. Available in outdoor and fun colors and is Made in the USA. (Yes, but how many bottles of wine will it hold?) MSRP: $199
  • Blazing Bull Infrared Grill: Also Made in the USA, this company believes everyone should have the ability to grill with the same technology used by the best steakhouses and restaurants in the world. So, they made a portable barbecue grill. Sear a steak at 1500 degrees F? Sounds pretty awesome to me. (Currently a HUGE sale on Everest.Com, click to find out!)
  • Everest Caliber Membership: While checking out that gill, above, consider becoming a Caliber Member for access to thousands of hours of streaming entertainment, free shipping on Caliber-eligible discounts and much more.
  • Ugly Christmas Sweater from Mia’s Mercantile: Mia Anstine is a fellow POMA Board

Member and friend, so of course I had to include her ‘Tis the Season ugly Christmas sweater! Use code CORONA30 for 30% off.

  • ZEISS Victory SF 32: ZEISS says this is their best all-purpose binoculars thanks to its optical perfection, unparalleled field of view and ultra-light design.

Gifts Just for Women: (also, see the first section above)

  • Mathews Archery PRIMA Bow: Just announced last week, and my friend Melissa Bachman already got a few bucks with it, so that’s good enough for me. See the specifics here.
