Brown and Ellison Win Mixed Team Bronze at World Cup Berlin

BERLIN - The U.S. recurve mixed team of Mackenzie Brown (Flint, Texas) and Brady Ellison (Globe, Arizona) finished out the fourth stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup with a bronze-medal win versus Turkey.

Brown, a Rio 2016 Olympian, and Ellison, a three-time Olympic medalist, tied the Turkish team in the first of four sets today, shooting two 8s and two perfect 10s and earning one set point. However, the U.S. shot a near-perfect 38 - three tens and a single 8 - in the second set, increasing their match score to 3-1, and never looked back.

Ellison and Brown stayed consistent in the third set, tying with Turkey again to bring the score to 4-2, and clinched victory in the last set with an outright win, putting just one more arrow in the gold than their competitors and earning the last two set points of the match, 6-2.

The team's win finished a World Cup that saw strong performances from the U.S. squad bound for the World Championships in Mexico City later this year. The compound archers earned women's team gold, men's team gold, mixed team gold, and an individual bronze. Three archers - Ellison, Braden Gellenthien (Hudson, Massachusetts) and Steve Anderson (West Jordan, Utah) also clinched their spots for the World Cup Final in Rome.
