Can-Am Defender XT Receives Highest Rating at Grainews UTV Challenge

During the 2016 Grainews UTV Challenge at the Ag in Motion Expo in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan July 19-21, 2016, the Can-Am Defender XT was rated highest by judges in the heavy-duty category and received the highest point score overall.

Competing against 6 other manufactures and 8 other machines, the Defender XT was judged by its overall design to be well suited to the kind of tasks farmers would likely use on a day-to-day basis.

Designed to be Tough, Capable, and Clever, the Defender XT is loaded with features to help get the job done. The Defender XT has a 1,000 lb load capacity cargo box, 2,000 lb towing capacity, tight turning radius, included 4,500 lb winch, Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires, and a full hard roof. The unit also has a wide variety of interior storage options and 40-20-40 VERSA-PRO Bench seat.

Testing criteria were designed to evaluate the machines suitability for work on a farm. Testing consisted of four parts: an overall design evaluation, followed by unloaded, loaded and trailer towing drives through a test course. The test course evaluated performance in low and high speed driving, soft field traction, uphill and downhill performance, and agility.

The Can-Am Defender XT was also put on display in the Grainews Display during the Ag in Motion Farm Expo. At the event at least one judge was present at the display at all times during the show to discuss the machine evaluations of the UTV Challenge with show goers and answer questions from many magazine readers. Attendees had the opportunity to view every machine entered in the challenge, look over features and vote on their top pick. The Can-Am Defender XT was voted "Farmer's Favourite" during the expo.

The October issue of Grainews will include a full report on the UTV Challenge and outline the judges' findings on a machine-by-machine basis.
