ATHENS, GA (July 13, 2016) - The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) is pleased to announce that Mark Turner and Morgan Warda have joined the organization as interns for QDMA's Education and Outreach Department. The six-month positions will focus on research, education, advocacy and certification program issues. Their duties will include identifying research funding opportunities, developing educational materials, engaging in legislative efforts, and helping with QDMA's certifications programs.

Mark is currently a student at North Carolina State University pursuing his bachelor's degree in fisheries, wildlife and conservation biology, with a wildlife science concentration. He has served as an intern with Grant Wood's Growing Deer online show, as well as working as an elk forage research technician with the University of Tennessee. He is the vice president of the N.C. State Branch of QDMA, and is a Level II Deer Steward. Mark has also contributed two articles to QDMA's Quality Whitetailsmagazine.

Morgan is a senior at University of Michigan-Flint, pursuing a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology. She has worked as a farm equipment operator, deer check station volunteer, and most currently as a research assistant for the university she attends. In addition to her work experience, Morgan recently received her Level I Deer Steward certification.

"I'm excited to work with the Education and Outreach Department's inaugural interns," said Kip Adams, QDMA's Director of Outreach and Education. "I know both as they are Deer Steward program graduates, and I am confident their internships will be extremely beneficial for themselves and QDMA."

The positions officially started on July 1 and will run through the end of the year.
