First South Carolina S3DA State Championship Held

Louisville, KY - The first North Carolina Scholastic 3-D Archery State Championship was held this past weekend, May 29-30th at South Mountain Bowhunters Club in Bostic, North Carolina. Students attended this championship event from all across North Carolina.

"I thought the NC S3DA state Championship was the best shoot my kids have been to all year," said Jack Causby. "Todd Tongel did an amazing job with the planning and organizing as the event was very well planned, with a great course layout. We had a fun time and can't wait until Nationals. I have to say that S3DA is the best program I have ever been a part of and if you don't have an S3DA program in your area, you need one."

"I am so proud to be part of the first North Carolina Scholastic 3-D Archery State Championship, said Renee Griffith, North Carolina State S3DA Director. "We saw students from all over North Carolina compete. South Mountain Archery Club and Todd Tongel made sure every detail was covered. I know North Carolina will be proudly represented at the National S3DA competition in June."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting.

The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
