Louisville, KY – February 2, 2016 –Scholastic 3-D Archery Association (SAA) has been named recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Easton Sports Development Foundation. SAA will re-distribute the Easton funds in $750 "matching" mini-grants to organizations interested in creating new Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) opportunities. Start-up costs for new S3DA programs typically amount to around $1500.

"This grant will further expedite our program with schools and clubs now in various stages of fundraising," according to S3DA Executive Director Jennie Richardson. "We have clubs forming in several states that will be able to use this matching money to implement their programs immediately."

S3DA is a "next step" program designed to follow introductory archery programs such as those offered through 4-H and the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). S3DA's founders created key partnerships with United States Collegiate Archery (USCA), the Archery Shooters Association (ASA) and the Pope and Young Club to promote continuity in skill levelswhile encouraging life-long participation in 3-D and bowhunting.

Easton foundations sponsor a variety of programs to increase awareness of archery. Grants are awarded annually to clubs, programs, schools, colleges and universities and various organizations that propose archery-related plans or projects.

The SSA is committed to helping local programs support and grown the skills of student archers looking for new challenges and expanded opportunities.
Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
