Indiana S3DA Clubs Report Positive Impact from Program

Indiana Scholastic 3D Archery clubs positively impacting local schools,
archery pro shops and state hunting license sales

Louisville, KY – November 16, 2015 – Indiana Scholastic 3D Archery clubs are having a positive impact on Indiana communities. Derek Marshall, Superintendent of Attica Consolidated Schools and Indiana S3DA State Coordinator, recently reported to the S3DA Board of Directors that S3DA clubs are having a real, measurable impact on local pro shops, license sales and students throughout Indiana.

"Attica Consolidated School Corporation participates in S3DA for several reasons," says Derek Marshall, Superintendent, Attica Consolidated School Corporation. "Archery is a great life-long sport that teaches concentration, instills confidence, and allows kids to positively represent their school. Like all traditional high school sports, Scholastic 3D Archery has a consistent set of rules from Grade 3-12, which is particularly excellent for the K-12 school setting. These same rules carry over into collegiate and professional archery.

Scholastic 3D Archery also appeals to the archery industry, as there are no restrictions on equipment and accessories. S3DA also increases FET and license sales for Department of Natural Resources. After winning their second state championship in 2014, Indiana S3DA students were surveyed through their coaches and found that 83% of the kids had purchased a hunting license."

Archery pro shops are also seeing the benefit of S3DA clubs in their areas. Two local Indiana pro-shop owners had this to say
about the impact Scholastic 3D Archery is having on their businesses; "I've seen a 15-20% increase in sales due to the youth shooters and their family members getting involved with the local S3DA teams," says David Stephens, Owner Hilltop Archery Pro Shop.

Mark Meadows, Owner Dead End Archery states, "the local S3DA teams have created an influx of new youth shooters at my
shop. The young ladies have really taken to the sport."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
