LAS VEGAS, NV - John Banovich is a long time donor and supporter of Safari Club
International and the Safari Club International Foundation as well as a past recipient of the CJ McElroy Award. He is a board member of the Craighead Institute and an advisory board member to the Safari Club International Foundation. Banovich is best known for painting bold and dramatic scenes of iconic wildlife and nature in its most essential form, and has achieved extraordinary popularity among art collectors and sportsmen across the globe. Through his own conservation work with the Banovich Wildscapes Foundation, and through his breathtaking visual narratives, the artist has brought the plight of wildlife and wild places to the attention of an international audience.

This year John Banovich presents the feature painting A Game of Lions. "Deep in the heart of every lion lives an ancient hatred for hyenas, never missing an opportunity to beguile their nemesis. For millennia this turmoil has reached far beyond the competition for food. It is a war between eternal enemies. These hidden battlefields remind us of a time when our own nights were filled with bloody darkness," said John Banovich, 2015.

The Banovich exhibition will showcase a new collection of John Banovich originals and newly released limited edition giclée canvases. The much anticipated annual "For Sale by Draw" as well as special receptions and entertainment will also be held during the 2015 convention on February 6th.

Proceeds from Banovich artwork support BWF, providing essential assistance to many small-but-vital organizations dedicated to scientific research, habitat conservation and public education. Efforts are focused in Africa and the Russian Far East. BWF supports 10 projects in seven countries, working on initiatives crucial for lions, Amur tigers and mountain nyala.

"Through my art, I hope to inspire people to seek a deeper understanding of the world around us and bring together groups of individuals to unite on common ground. Now more than ever our natural world is severely threatened and, with this increased pressure, a new paradigm must emerge. Conservationists, sportsmen and environmentalists must join forces in areas of overlapping interests and consider bridges to overcome these important issues," said Banovich.


About John Banovich
John Banovich (b.1964) is an American oil painter known internationally for his large, dramatic portrayals of iconic wildlife. While Banovich is most closely associated with African species, namely elephants, lions, leopards, Cape buffalo and rhinoceros, he's been to Africa three dozen times on research trips-he has also won accolades for his realistic interpretations of Siberian tigers, Chinese pandas, and North American megafauna (such as grizzly and polar bears, bison, and puma). Banovich's work has appeared in many prestigious venues, including the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's Birds in Art show, the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum, the Salmagundi Club, traveling exhibitions sponsored by the Society of Animal Artists and showcases hosted by Safari Club International and Dallas Safari Club. His work can be found in museum, corporate and private collections.
