Tests Find Scent-Lok® Clothing Superior for Odor Elimination

MUSKEGON, MI - A recent, independent lab test performed by Dr. Tom Hartman of Rutgers University found Scent-Lok® Carbon Alloy™ products to perform significantly better than ScentBlocker® Trinity™ garments and the Under Armour® scent-control garment. Using a 13-component odor mixture, Scent-Lok Carbon Alloy BaseSlayers fabric adsorbed up to 16-times as much odor as Trinity™ branded fabric and 24-times the odor adsorbed by Under Armour scent-control fabric.

"The odor adsorption capacity of Scent-Lok BaseSlayers with Carbon Alloy was so high relative to the other garments that this sample was retested using 10x higher concentration of odor compounds," noted Dr. Hartman in his report.

The standardized tests subjected swatches of fabric against a 13-odor "cocktail" that included the compounds butyric acid, isovaleric acid, 2-methylhexanoic acid and trans-2-hexenoic acid that are confirmed present in human body odor were used. The products tested were a Scent-Lok Carbon Alloy BaseSlayers™ top, a Scent-Blocker 1.5 Performance shirt with trinity Technology, a ScentBlocker Protec XT jacket with Trinity technology and Under Armour's UA Base 2.0 scent control crew shirt.

"This is important news for those hardcore hunters out there. There's a lot of confusion and misinformation in the marketplace today and it's testing like this that provides clarity for making informed purchases," said Greg Sesselmann, president and founder of Scent-Lok Technologies. "We've been proven in the field for the last 20 years and proven in a lab time and time again. Today, it is great to stand alone as the only truly effective odor-control technology in the market."

The odor-adsorption capacity test showed (shown in Fig. 1) that Scent-Lok Carbon Alloy single-layer BaseSlayers adsorbed 252.5 µg/cm2 of odor. The same test showed that the ScentBlocker Protec XT jacket's fabric adsorbed just 24.6 µg/cm2 of odor, the ScentBlocker 1.5 's fabric adsorbed only 14.9 µg/cm2 of odor and the Under Armour 2.0 shirt's fabric adsorbed a meager 10.5 µm/cm2 of odor.

Dr. Hartman added that, "The Scent-Lok BaseSlayers with Carbon Alloy fabric was able to block 99.8% of odor transmission at body temperature at 1 and 24 hours post-dose. The Scent-Lok BaseSlayers with Carbon Alloy fabric had the highest adsorption capacity of all the garments tested and was over ten times greater than the next performing garment."

"Our system, when used properly, renders the human odor signature virtually invisible to whitetails and other big game," Sesselmann said. "Just last month, I personally stalked a bedded buck to less than fifteen yards in swirling wind. I actually had enough time to take a photo of him lying there before I took my shot. What other technology can produce results like that?"

Patrick Hylant Jr, Owner and Executive Vice President of Scent-Lok Technologies added, "I recently had a customer tell me that they sat 100-plus times this year using a Scent-Lok system and haven't been blown at once! He tells me the change instant and dramatic unlike other products which didn't seem to change anything."

Scent-Lok Technologies engineers and produces the best scent-controlling hunting gear in the world. Founded in 1992 on scientific principles, Scent-Lok is the only company with access to all scent-controlling technologies including their patented activated carbon technology and is consistently proven to outperform other technologies tested.
