Competition Archery Media Hosts Podcast with U.S. Olympic Team hopeful Casey Kaufhold.

A junior in high school, Kaufhold, 17, currently is the women’s points leader in the trials process for the 2021 Olympic archery team. And she won first place in the Senior Women’s Recurve Division April 11 at Arizona Cup, which was the first tournament in the 2021 United States Archery Team season.

On the podcast, Kaufhold gives an update on the Olympic Team trials process ahead of the Summer Games scheduled for July 23-Aug. 8 in Tokyo. She also talks about her international experience and explains what it’s like being one of the youngest archers in the mix for Team USA.

In an insightful moment, Kaufhold describes her mental state as she approached the end of a recent indoor round, when she shot a perfect 300.

“You think, ‘What if I shoot a nine?’” she said. “And then you just think, ‘Well, how great would it be if I just shot a 10,’ and then you just get up there and you shoot a 10.

“But it’s definitely really nerve racking on that last arrow, because it’s a perfect score.”
