Clay City, Ky.- The fourth stage of the World Cup kicked off in Medellin making this the last opportunity for archers to make their mark on the World Cup stage before the finals in Tlaxcala, Mexico. GAS Shooters made a huge impact at Medellin as they took multiple podiums and broke a world record!
Sara Lopez had an incredible weekend as she was able to earn two medals at the World Cup and break a world record! In her last match to determine bronze, Sara shot a 150 with 12xs to not only break the previous record but to also win her individual bronze! Sara’s second medal came from the women’s compound team matches where she and her teammates won 1st place!
Another archer of note this past weekend was James Lutz who battled it out in the individual matches to earn himself 1st place! He earned two other medals at the event placing 3rd in the men’s compound team rounds with Tate Morgan and 2nd in compound mixed teams!
Mathias Fullerton made his GAS Bowstrings debut at Medellin earning first place in compound mixed teams. In compound team rounds, France’s Jean-Pierre Boulch and his teammates took 1st and Colombia’s Daniel Munez and his teammates took silver.
To finish out such a successful weekend, in recurve mixed teams, Jack Williams and his teammate fought hard in the gold medal matches and placed second after a 4-5 set point round. Jack also was able to finish out the World Cup in 4th place individually, only a couple of set points back from 3rd.
Overall, this was a very successful competition for GAS Bowstrings shooters, and we are very pleased to see their continued success! Congratulations to everyone who made the podiums!
