Kentucky S3DA hosts 1st Annual Fisher Barton Memorial Archery Event

Williamsburg, KY – Kentucky S3DA recently kicked off the 2020 Indoor season with a special tournament. The 1st annual Fisher Barton Memorial Archery Tournament was held at the Whitley County Middle School where more than 200 archers gathered from across the state to participate. Hundreds of spectators gathered to watch the morning and evening flights.

All proceeds from this tournament were to benefit the Fisher Barton Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide two scholarships to one senior girl and one senior boy that is active within Kentucky S3DA.

Proceeds from the tournament came through concessions, entry fees, admission, raffle tickets and t-shirt sales. The day ended with many of the spectators staying to participate in the “fun shoot”, which was held following the Kentucky S3DA regional indoor qualifier. The fun shoot allowed S3DA archers along with the general public the opportunity to shoot with each other.

Fisher Barton was a member of the S3DA club, Impact Archery, in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He passed away on October 4th, 2019, as the result of an ATV accident. Amanda Long, Impact Archery coach had this to say, “Fisher was a guy that just lit up the room wherever he was. He was fun loving, had a great sense of humor and an incredible work ethic – often working more than one job while also attending high school full-time and keeping up with his archery and skeet practice. Our club felt that the best way to honor his memory was to keep it alive and pass on the opportunities he was blessed with to others. We created the Fisher Barton Memorial Scholarship Fund to do just that.”

Impact Archery student member, Morgan Huddleston said, “I know that having this tournament was hard work for everyone, but we all loved Fisher and he would have enjoyed seeing so many people come together to honor his memory. This was a great reminder to everyone to #livelikefisher.”
