Pursuit Channel Primetime Leads Rival

Glenwood, AL – During Q4 2019, Pursuit Channel provided greater audience engagement than Sportsman Channel, according to Nielsen analytics. Further, Pursuit Channel expanded its lead over Sportsman in primetime Q4 2019 versus Q4 2018, announced Pursuit executives.

“The picture at Pursuit Channel continues to be one of growth and engagement,” said Rusty Faulk, Pursuit Media CEO, “which is the direct result of this network’s solid gains in the recruitment of top-quality independent programming. Pursuit Channel is experiencing a surge of interest and commitment from well-established, new-to-our-network producers who want to join the amazing producers who’ve been here for years.

“Pursuit doesn’t compete against its independent producers to fund a primetime stable of its own shows,” Faulk suggested. “The ‘friendly fire effect’ created by the competition’s daily blitz to move advertising revenue to its network-produced shows, at the expense of its own independent producers, is one of the key differences between us and them. Just like always, Pursuit is all about the well-being of our independent producers.

Further, Pursuit Channel increased its Average Audience (AA) by 17-percent from Q4 2018 versus Q4 2019, while Sportsman Channel saw an 7-percent decrease in its AA during those same periods.* Notable for its high interest during weekday primetimes in that most recent quarter for Pursuit was Can-Am's Close Call Thursday, a block of content featuring Struttinbuck, Bear Whisperer, The High Road with Keith Warren, Dallas Safari Club’s Trailing the Hunter’s Moon, Wallhanger TV and Shoot Straight TV.

With the shift by Outdoor Channel to more and more non-consumptive adventures, fictional dramas and encore movies, a direction that skews away from hunt/fish/shoot towards more general-interest audiences, Pursuit has suspended tracking against that network. “Don’t be fooled, Outdoor Channel is well along on its new path showcasing general-interest entertainment,” Faulk proclaimed.

“Coupling our television broadcast growth with PursuitUp and PursuitLive – the addition of Sling TV and the muscle of 24/7 digital packages that reach 59 million-plus cord-cutters and cord-shavers – Pursuit Media is simply the best value, the most complete media portfolio, for viewers, producers and marketers,” he concluded.

Pursuit Channel’s Q1-2 2020 lineup includes: the Bassmaster Elite Series, Lindner’s Angling Edge, Pro Team Journal by Strike King, Hitmen, Struttinbuck, McWhorter Rifles’ Precision Hunting TV, The High Road with Keith Warren, Crappie Masters TV, Jimmy Houston Outdoors, On the Water with Hank Parker, Outdoor Edge’s the Great Outdoors, Sportsman’s Adventures with Captain Rick Murphy, Federation Angler TV, Hobie Outdoor Adventures, Grow ‘Em Big TV, Louisiana Outdoor Adventures TV, Long Shot TV, The Direction, Elusive Wildlife, Fly Rod Chronicles, Friends In Wild Places, Bass Pro Shop’s Fisherman’s Handbook, Ducks Unlimited Television, American Airgunner, Huntsman’s Creed, This is Africa, Americana Outdoors presented by Garmin, Midwest Outdoors, Mark Peterson’s Expedition Series, Timmy Horton Outdoors, Texas Team Trail, Dog Soldier, IFA Redfish, Precision Hunting TV and many others.
