Oregon S3DA Hosts Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – On Saturday, March 11th, 2023, Oregon S3DA held their Indoor State Championship at Bend Bowman archery range in Bend, Oregon. Archers from three S3DA teams attended and participated in the event. A couple of archers were brand new to the sport of archery and competing in their very first event. Some archers were overheard telling their coaches and parents that the shoot was an absolute blast. One of the archers from St. Mary’s said it was really nice to be able to get back into shooting archery with peers and meeting new ones. Special thank you to Sportsman’s Warehouse which donated $10 off coupons and other items to the archers.

Oregon S3DA State Coordinator, Craig DeLarm said, “We were super excited to be able to bring indoor archery back to Oregon S3DA archers. COVID affected everyone, but it really took a toll on our numbers and we are slowly building back up. We have one new club called Robin Hood Archery that has 18 members and they’re still growing. As people continue to see things opening and the world goes back to some sense of normalcy, I think we will gain more youth archers, coaches, and S3DA teams.”

Oregon S3DA looks forward to the upcoming 3D and outdoor target events. For more information on upcoming events or general information on the program, be sure to check out the Oregon S3DA Facebook page.

About Scholastic 3-D Archery

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program that has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic

3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate in regional, state, and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
