Mule Deer Foundation President/CEO Miles Moretti to Retire in October 2020

Salt Lake City, Utah: The Mule Deer Foundation Board of Directors announced today that President/CEO, Miles Moretti will retire from the organization in October 2020. The October date will complete 14 years of leading the Mule Deer Foundation through its greatest growth in the organization’s 32 year history.

“Under Miles’ leadership, The Mule Deer Foundation has become one of the most influential wildlife conservation organizations in the country,” noted Aaron Oelger, MDF Board Vice-Chair.

Art Reese, Chairman of the Board added, “The MDF Board has reluctantly accepted Miles’ resignation and he has graciously agreed to work with the Board in hiring his successor and the successful transition of his responsibilities to the new President/CEO.”

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of the Mule Deer Foundation becoming the leading authority on mule deer and black-tailed deer as well as a critical player in National wildlife conservation policy,” Moretti said. “I will miss the incredibly dedicated and passionate MDF employees and volunteers, but it will be exciting to watch the next chapter of MDF’s growth.”

Moretti joined MDF in October of 2006 after 30 years with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources where he retired as Deputy Director. He is a Life Member of MDF, a professional member of the Boone & Crockett Club, and a board member of the National Deer Alliance and the CWD Alliance. Miles was selected to serve on the Wildlife Hunting Heritage Council and the current Hunting & Shooting Sports Conservation Council. He has been a long time board member of the Intermountain West Joint Venture as well as serving a term as their Chairman of the Board.

“It is bittersweet for me to announce my retirement after 14 years at MDF after making such great strides for the organization, however it is time for me to step aside so I can spend more time with my family,” concluded Moretti. “I am confident I will be leaving the organization in good hands and that its growth will only accelerate with new leadership.”

Applications for the MDF President/CEO position will be accepted until April 1. The position announcement will be available on the MDF website www.muledeer.org.
