Whitetails Unlimited Supports NH Fish & Game Study

Whitetails Unlimited awarded a $2,400 grant to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department for an upcoming wildlife studies. The funds will be used primarily to purchase trail cameras which will help the department gather population totals on local wildlife including the white-tailed deer. Current population totals are being calculated by reports submitted by outdoorsmen. However, each year, fewer and fewer reports are being submitted forcing the Fish and Game Department to pursue other methods.

“It is important for state wildlife agencies to conduct these types of population surveys to gain a better understanding of area wildlife populations especially as it pertains to the white-tailed deer,” says Whitetails Unlimited Program Services Director Russ Austad. “This research project aligns perfectly with our Developing Education and Environmental Resources (D.E.E.R.) Program.”
