Wisconsin S3DA hosts Indoor State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – Wisconsin S3DA hosted their Indoor State Championship in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. There were 115 archers competing for awards, scholarships and a chance to qualify for the S3DA National Indoor Championship coming up on March 14th & 15th. Overall, the event was a huge success and several archers competed in an NFAA sectional event that morning and then travelled over an hour to compete in the S3DA state tournament.

Wisconsin S3DA State Coordinator, Dan Schuller states, “We had some extremely close competition and some new friendships were made along the way. There was media coverage from one of the local television news teams and a reporter from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which was awesome! Both were extremely impressed with the program, the archer’s abilities and how well everything flowed from the first whistle to the last.”

“We would like to send a big thank you to Wisconsin S3DA, its members, donors and all volunteers that worked to make this event possible. With S3DA growing so rapidly, it is good to see the driving force behind it. Putting on a tournament of this size is not easy, and they made it look effortless. It was awesome to see all the shooters interacting and forming new friendships as well as help from the parents of kid’s,” states S3DA coach, Andy Coon.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving
thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
