Elite Archery’s Gomez, Ayersman, Brockman Finish ASA Season Strong In Metropolis

West Henrietta, NY – The Archery Shooters Association season wrapped up with the Classic on Sunday in Metropolis, IL with Elite Archery’s Garrett Ayersman in 3rd (Known Pro) both for the tournament and Shooter of the Year, Tommy Gomez earning a 3rd place Open Pro Shooter of the Year title and Natalie Brockman earning Rookie of the Year distinctions in the Women’s Pro class.

“I’m happy with a third place Shooter of the Year finish to the season, especially among the caliber of the group that competes in the Open Pro class,” said Gomez. “The ReVol XL has been a game changer for me this year, adding to my consistency, confidence and success – elements I intend to extend into 2020.”

Day one of shooting on Friday concluded with a tight race and several Elite shooters in the mix, including Curtis Broadnax (+26), Seth Greene (+24), Tyler Marlow and Garrett Ayersman (tied at +20) in the Known Pro class. On the Open Pro range, Elite’s Stephen Altizer found himself tied for 4th (+14) headed into day two. New to the Women’s Pro class for 2019, Natalie Brockman finished her first day in 6th place (-6).

Shooting through the heat on the second day of the Classic, Broadnax (Echelon 37), and Ayersman (Victory X) maintained their leads and finished in 3rd and 5th, respectively, with Elite’s Jase Boils (Victory X) climbing to 4th to earn a spot alongside his teammates in the shootdown. In the hard-fought, post-monsoon shootdown, Ayersman challenged from 5th to 3rd to earn a spot on the podium. Boils finished 4th, and Broadnax in 5th, with Marlow (Victory X) in 7th and Glen Bordwell (Echelon 39) rounding out the top 10 for #TeamElite.

“It’s always bitter sweet coming into the ASA Classic, knowing that it’s the last tournament of the year, but coming into the weekend sitting in third for Shooter of the Year, I knew it would be a battle. A strong first day kept me close to lead and followed up by another strong second day with my equipment performing flawlessly,” Ayersman said. “The rain delay with the monsoon that we had definitely was a game changer after sitting for so long not firing an arrow. But I didn’t let it change my game plan at all knowing I had a lot of ground to make up. Not trying to leave anything out there shooting for every 14 that was in play I was able to end on a high note which feels amazing, but also has me even more ready to get out in the mountains to start hunting!”

Altizer (Ritual 35) finished his Open Pro weekend in 8th, Brockman (Ritual 35) maintained her Women’s Pro 6th place finish, Jillian Ballengee (Ritual 35) recorded her fourth consecutive Women’s K45 Shooter of the Year title, while a host of amateur Elite shooters made their presence known for the final ASA of the year:

  • Brayden Jones – Open B (1st and Shooter of the Year)
  • Haley Golden – Women’s K40 (1st and Shooter of the Year)
  • Jalyn Sharp – Women’s Open B (Shooter of the Year)
  • Sid Lett – Senior Masters (Shooter of the Year)
  • Maley Brooks – Women’s Hunter (1st)
  • Cory Pitts – Open A (1st)
  • Harold Whobrey – Super Senior Known (1st)
  • Beau Knoblock – Middle School Pins (3rd)
  • Chris Chesney – Senior Known (3rd)

“What an incredible year for Elite Archery’s prostaff – I truly could not be more proud of each and every athlete wearing a blue jersey on the 3D range,” said Darrin Christenberry, Elite Archery prostaff manager. “With a few more 3D and target championships to go in 2019, I can only imagine how this year will wrap up for this impressive team.”
