Arizona Mule Deer Org Awarded AZGF Comission Special Elk Tag

Phoenix, AZ  – The Arizona Game and Fish Department has awarded the Arizona Mule Deer Organization a 2019 Commission Special Elk Tag. The Arizona Game and Fish Commission awards Special Big Game License Tags, sometimes called Commissioners’ tags, to selected 501(c)(3) wildlife conservation organizations to raise funds for wildlife.

All revenues generated are returned to the Arizona Game and Fish Department to be directly used to benefit those species through wildlife and habitat management in coordination with the Arizona Habitat Partnership Committee. Administrative and marketing costs must be covered by the wildlife conservation organization.

This coveted tag will be auctioned at an upcoming AMD banquet, which will allow the high bidder to hunt 365 days and in any Unit in the State. Most savvy elk hunters know that Arizona produces some of the largest Trophy Elk in the country, so this tag will see lots of interest.

Arizona Mule Deer. Org is the only group in Arizona, solely focused on the recovery Mule Deer in Arizona. Due to drought, predation, habitat loss, encroachment, etc., Mule Deer numbers across the West are at historic lows. It is AMD’s mission statement “The Conservation of Arizona’s Mule Deer, their Habitat and Resources”, that drives the organization. Jim Lawrence, President of AMD states “this unique Commission Tag shows the AZGFD Commission’s support in our mission”.
