Randy Birdsong l Whitetails and a Worthy Cause

Hunters have spent all spring and summer getting food plots in, getting trail cameras up, setting up blinds and stands, working on habitat improvement, scouting and more. Now, with fall hunting seasons upon us, it’s time to see if all that hard work will pay off. Randy Birdsong, co-host of “HeadHunters TV” on Outdoor Channel, Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. ET says that he is a hands on property manager throughout the summer months, however with fall upon us he is ready to head west to kick off his hunting season. With his attention focused on western big game, his home property can sit undisturbed for a couple of months, which is just the way he likes it. By the time he wraps up his western hunts and is ready to chase whitetails in October, Randy says the pressure on the property has been at a minimum and the deer haven’t been stressed. That creates the ideal environment to step back into and maximize success. Randy also talks early season velvet bucks and the small window hunters have to get their shot at one.

Desert Mule Deer Hunting with Stephen West

Stephen West is an adventure addict. He lives an outdoor lifestyle and chases the outdoor dream hunting and guiding in challenging terrain. He’s also the host of “West of Texas” on Sportsman Channel, Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Tune in as Stephen West joins The Revolution this week to talk field judging mule deer, where to find early season bucks, how pressure impacts muleys and more.

Catalpa Worm Catfishing with CatDaddy

CatDaddy isn’t a bait snob, he’ll throw anything that works. Changing up the bait you are offering just may be the key to entice more hot weather bites. Don’t hold back CatDaddy says, whatever it takes, whatever you have, sling it out there and give it a try. If you don’t have a bite happening, then change things up and try something different. CatDaddy says he has been hitting the sweet spot on bluecats with a different bait than he generally uses – catalpa worms. Listen in as CatDaddy, owner and guide at CatDaddy’s Catfishin’ Adventures, talks about changing up your bait for more success.

Aging Whitetails on the Hoof
Aging whitetail bucks on the hoof is all about the body. You aren’t looking at rack size and trying to determine if your buck is a Booner. Instead, you’re trying to determine age and maturity with as much accuracy as possible. While looking at rack size can provide subtle clues, aging based on rack size alone isn’t reliable. The best way to age deer on the hoof is to take cues from defining body characteristics and that will help you determine age class. Check out tips for aging on the hoof.
